2NE1, the first boyish photoshoot - "Did you say we looked like boys?"
'Even while wearing boyish clothing, can they still express themselves in a sexy and polished way?'
Representative girl groups from South Korea participated in the '2010 Big Project Girl Group Crossdressing Photoshoot", a collaboration between Star News and fashion site Style M for the fashion magazine Arena's May issue. The first to appear is 2NE1.
From the second that 2NE1 debuted, they were deemed the 'Female Big Bang' and proved to be completely different from current girl groups at that time. Whatever these girls wore became the trend and became a brand. For example, last year, CL's unique glasses were a huge hit, as well as Sandara Park's antenna hairstyle. In addition, Park Bom's lovely style and Gong Minzy's cute bob hair cut became a trend as well.
On the 29th, 2NE1 was at the studio located in Shinsadong in the southern part of Korea. Finally given a break from their fashion shows, CFs, photoshoots, and several other schedules, 2NE1 seemed much more relaxed. Their outer appearances seemed to have changed too.
CL sported a popstar-like reggae perm; instead of Sandara Park's palm tree hair, she had a round twisting 'snail' hair style; Park Bom had a uniquely feminine and lovely perm; and instead of 'Ero' Minji's short bob, it became a wavy upstyle.
"This photoshoot's concept is tomboyish. 2NE1 is going to be wearing denim for this."
When the 2NE1 members were told the concept, they seemed very confident and revealed their determination. Leader CL said, "It's boys' clothing. Our group can do that the best!" Sandara Park said as well, "I originally wear denim well, but I really like the denim look"; Gong Minji stated of course, "Don't I look a bit like a boy?"; and Park Bom said "I'm supposed to be the feminine one in 2NE1, but I wanted to show another aspect of myself."
Now! The shoot has started!
For these girls' shoot, 10 staff members have come together, including stylist Lee Jingyoo, photographers, and even news reporters. But just a sec! Girl group members tend to get really nervous before a photoshoot. Will 2NE1 be like that too?

PART 2
2NE1 "Fighting for clothes between the members? Ha ha ha!"
Reporter: "Between the female members, do you guys ever fight over clothes or accessories?"
The 2NE1 members laughed. "We have really unique and different styles, so we haven't fought even once," CL said. "A while ago, (San)dara unni bought me a hip sack. Each of our members have a very distinctive personality, so when we see an item we say 'This is so this person's'."
Of course, Sandara Park added, "We've never fought. Our tastes are really different." She laughed and said, "Bom is always a one piece, and since she's really feminine, she also matches hot pants really well. In my case, I tend to wear a lot of baggy pants and beanies, especially since this year was so cold."
Also she stated, "Even though Minji's at a young age, she can dress up really sexily too, and she wears a lot of (different) shoes. You could even say me and Minji have traded places; I'm like the 'kiddy' style while Minji dresses very mature".
"Amazingly, all the girls have different tastes," Gong Minji said. "Dara unni and CL unni always wear fancy print clothing with a street look to it, but I like things that are a bit more feminine and less flashy," showing off her feminism.
Lately, she said she had her eye on an Alexander Wang one piece. It seems that we may be able to see Gong Minji in a soft one piece soon.
However, who is the best dressed in 2NE1? All the girls picked CL without a doubt. Gong Minji revealed her reason for picking her: "CL unni is always trying out various styles of clothing, whether it's for a music video or when a new song comes out; she always actively lets out her opinions".
Sandara Park said, "CL has been different from since she was a trainee. She would dress up differently then other trainees, wearing different layers and unusual accessories; she is the one responsible for perfecting 2NE1's style.
In response, CL said embarrassingly, "When I go shopping with the members, I'm always the one bossing them around."

2NE1, What kind of clothes did they wear during their shoot?

On this day, 2NE1's photoshoot concept was the denim look. The 2NE1 members all enjoy wearing denim, and so the photoshoot was a breeze. If you catch a glimpse of them, they may have small figures, but truthfully, these girls have a very mature glamour to them. At the studio, these girls displayed their powerful overflowing charisma and took complete control of the camera.

On this day, the stylist in charge of the styling Lee Jingyoo shi revealed "I did the styling for an overall denim look and I mix and matched (today) to create a look suitable for a retro atmosphere and Western feeling." "Because this is a tomboyish photoshoot, rather than curviness, the prepared clothing tends to be more straight-cut."
He also added "Each of the members are sporting a different style of denim, in terms of detail and material, I also utilized 'object' styling as well".
First off, 2NE1's leader CL is wearing a white lace top from the D&G collection, as well as washed out crop pants as the foundation. Underneath the white lace top, she is wearing a black lace bra, emphasizing CL's sexiness. To spice up the clothing, she is sporting a MISSONI belt, and finishes off with trendy brown and black gladiator shoes by GUESS.
Sandara Park bore the manliest appearance. Her strong look was made up of Stella McCartney denim shirt and denim pants, Burberry Prorsum brown belt and Eryn Brinie choker on her neck and a pointed headband. Her brown GUESS shoes finish the look, giving her a complete boy like image.
Park Bom who usually prefers to wear hot pants, had on a Mardi Judy denim jacket on top of her Issey Miyake beige top, accompanied by a belt giving her an edgy feeling. Her overexaggerated hairstyle makes her seem like a popstar.
Magnae Minji had on a white print sleeveless tee (Erin Watson by Han style) with a denim jacket (Golden goose by Han style) which was matched with a silk scarf. With this, ornamented with lace was a pair of Dolce & Gabbana denim pants giving off a sexy image. Her outfit is finished off with a pair of trendy black gladiator shoes (Steven Maiden).
