[NEWS] Lee Seung Gi main actor of 'My Girlfriend is the Nine-Tailed Fox', Main actress is Shin Sae Kyung?

The contours of the drama ‘My Girlfriend is a Nine-Tailed Fox’ which has gained much attention as actor Lee Seung Gi’s newest work is beginning to show.

As screenwriter of the drama ‘You’re Beautiful’ Hong Sisters (Hong Jung Eun, Hong Mi Ran)’s newest work, the much anticipated ‘My Girlfriend is a Nine-Tailed Fox' has casted Lee Seung Gi as the main actor.

It was said that the drama had been contemplating between Shin Sae Kyung and the group 2NE1’s Dara (real name Sandara Park) as the main actress role of the nine-tailed fox. The staff’s opinions lean more towards Shin Sae Kyung, who they think fits more into the main role. About this, Shin Sae Kyung’s company says “She needs to focus at the moment more on ‘Highkick Through the Roof’ so we have not settled on a following work yet,” and “For now, we are thinking about working on the scheduled commercial shoots and photoshoots that were postponed.”

The drama’s airing station is also being determined. It is in the process of arranging a decision between airing in SBS and KBS. In the case of SBS, it will be aired after their Wed/Thurs. drama ‘Prosecuter Princess’, and in the case of KBS, it will be aired after ‘Cinderella's Sister.’

On the other hand, Lee Seung Gi, his newest work confirmed, has released an image from a photoshoot with Samsung Gipelle with a charismatic and sexy image. This photoshoot has gained much interest because Lee Seung Gi does not show any of the nice and clumsy image he has had in KBS2’s ‘1 Night 2 Days’ and instead shows a haughty but elegant image.

[NEWS] 'Strong Heart' PD on Lee Seung Gi

It has already been 5 months since singer Lee Seung Gi debuted as an MC for SBS's 'Strong Heart'. So, how is Lee Seung Gi doing so far?
Already 5 months after the first episode, which was on September 24th, Lee Seung Gi have been notified that he was doing good so far. 'Strong Heart' PD said that he was satisfied with the show at the moment, since it averages 20% TV ratings (which is very high).

Park Sang Hyuk PD was given the role of directing 'Strong Heart', and he said, "I didn't know Lee Seung Gi will do this well", and showed his satisfaction.

Park PD said, "At first, Lee Seung Gi started as Kang Ho Dong's assistant MC, but now I think Seung Gi is equal to Kang Ho Dong." By that, it means that Lee Seung Gi has already fully adjusted to his character, and has the ability to be a lone MC.

Park PD praised two things about Lee Seung Gi. One was Lee Seung Gi's strong integrity. Lee Seung Gi learned to adjust to variety programs by the hard-working Kang Ho Dong.

Another thing about Lee Seung Gi was that, even when there are many guests in the set, he is calm. His comments were suitable for wrapping things up, and this was a talent needed for a show like 'Strong Heart'. Park PD said, "Lee Seung Gi's MC character is progressing very well indeed," and "I am very satisfied with him so far for the last 5~6 months.

Meanwhile, Super Junior's Lee Teuk, Eun Hyuk, and Shin Dong is also learning. Park PD praised them by saying, "They are all hard working," and "Teukkigayo mixes the song themselves, and gets the photos themselves without the staff's help!"

I am a fan of 'Strong Heart' and I watched every episode of it. For those who don't watch it, I strongly recommend this show, because it brings you laughter, tears, and lots of famous celebrities! I think the subbed episodes of them are found in youtube. Subscribe to glfishyy!

[News] Lee SeungGi expresses unhappiness to YoonA-TaecYeon scandal

SBS variety show Strong Heart MC Lee Seung Gi reveals his unhappiness to YoonA-Ok TaeYeon scandal.

So Nyeo Shi Dae YoonA and 2PM TaecYeon was present in the recent filming of ‘Strong Heart’. The 2 had showed not just their dances as Korea’s representative idols, but also their good speaking.

Especially during the filming, Lee SeungGi-YoonA-TaecYeon “love triangle” was the hot issue amongst the guest appaearances. Previously, YoonA and TaecYeon put up a couple performance for MBC Gayo Festival on 31st December, which had sparked off talks of scandal. Back then, the 2 had clarified with the comment “It is just for business” to calm the scandal rumours.

So the issue of scandal between the 2 was put in the spotlight during filming that day even though the 2 had made it clear that it was just for pure entertainment purpose. With that, Lee SeungGi was seen uncomfortable during all the talk about the scandal between the 2.

Lee SeungGi has also always proclaimed that YoonA is his ideal type of girl. With that YoonA also revealed, “I’m really happy that Lee SeungGi has chosen me as his ideal type of girl.”

It is said that the YoonA was also made to choose her ideal type between Lee SeungGi and TaecYeon during the filming.

Meanwihle, the show is set to air on 9th February at 11.05pm.

[Interview] 10asia Interview With Singer/Actor Lee Seung Gi

http://img34.imageshack.us/img34/1318/20100122141311633132956.jpg

10: The photographer said you are good at putting on different expressions, as if you’re acting while thinking about a certain situation. What do you think about when you take photos?
Lee Seung-gi (Lee): I noticed that some of my senior actors put on different expressions when they take photos. And it seems that the more I think, the more various expressions I can put on. That’s why I imagine I’m acting when I’m being photographed.

10: Are you the type that usually prepares and thinks a lot in advance?
Lee: The president of my agency is strict (laugh) so even if I do start becoming lazy, people around me set me straight so that I can prepare in time. And it’s different when I go to a shoot for TV shows with the ad-libs prepared. Even with talk show “Strong Heart,” I can think up several dozens of ad-libs if I look at the script enough. But I’ll only get to use one of them on the show so I keep thinking of the different situations which could arise on the show.

10: So the seemingly spontaneous remarks you make on “Strong Heart” are actually from thorough preparation.
Lee: That’s why I have a headache. [Kang] Ho-dong is the main host of the show so he has no choice but to go along with the script. I can help make the show better by wrapping up a conversation after a guest answers Kang’s question. But it’s something you can’t prepare in advance which is why it’s so difficult.

10: Did producer Park Sang-hyuk tell you why he cast you as one of the main hosts for the show?
Lee: I don’t ask those type of questions. I’m scared I might become too conscious of what I’ve heard and not be myself. How I do in the future is more important, I think.

10: Does Kang give you advice?
Lee: Kang doesn’t pressure the guests. He is cautious about telling people what he thinks because he believes that those who appear on TV are doing so because they have an ability they trust in themselves.

10: What is your thoughts on him?
Lee: That the difference between being first and second are nowhere close to each other. With variety show “Two Days and One Night,” I wasn’t host of the show so I thought all six of us were involved in its making. But now that I know what it’s like being emcee, wow. It’s definitely not an easy job at all — listening to the the stories of all the guests, figuring out the connections, giving people roles… The person who is at the center of a show, like Kang, and has to make the program fun and those who are watching from beside, are on a complete different spectrum I think.

10: You once said you have room to breathe when your goal is to reach 99 but it’s entirely different when you add 1 onto it.
Lee: I used to tell myself that I would be happy with 99. But people who will be content with reaching 99 seem to have a mindset so different from those who want to reach 100 that the gap is closer to 200 or 300.

10: How did you come to think such thoughts? I heard that you went out to do manual labor after debuting and becoming famous because you thought it wasn’t right that you were making so much money.
Lee: So many people around me were telling me that I don’t try hard enough because I didn’t face much difficulty growing up so being the immature guy I was back then, I told myself I could put myself in that situation then. I had the wrong idea about it now that I think about it. because it’s a different kind of difficulty.

10: Is it in year nature to control yourself and keep developing?
Lee: I’m very cowardly. I don’t like creating problems and I was taught at home not to either.

10: How did your parents teach you? I read on the Internet that you are close with them yet courteous toward them.
Lee: They dind’t boss me around but rather let me do what I want. But I feel guilty when they cross the line (laugh) so iI guess you could say that’s in my nature.

10: But weren’t your choices rather bold, on the other hand? Everyhitng must have been a risk for you — from your role as an annoying guy in KBS series “xxx” or taking on the role as host in “Strong Heart.”
Lee: I’m not the one who calls the bets. I’m very cowardly (laugh) so I just go with whatever bold decision my agency makes for me.

10: Even if your company makes the decision, you’re the one who gets the response. Isn’t it tough?
Lee: I really was so stressed about “Strong Heart.” If I was going to take it on, I wanted to do a good job with it, but with all the preparing I had to do, I kept myself if I could really do it. But I’ve only been at this career for about six years now. I haven’t experienced that much failure or success either. I don’t think I should be making my own decision with the mere experience I have right now.

10: But despite that personality of yours, you seem very bold in “Two Nights and One Day.”
Lee: You’re right. I’m emotional in many ways. I try not to show it too much on TV though because it won’t do me much good but I do think a tenaciousness, in the good sense, is necessary in making a show. I just let myself go (laugh) or I might get sick.

10: It seems you show more of your real self when you’re working.
Lee: It’s comfortable because I’m working within a set boundary — in broadcasting in my case. I don’t go on TV to create problems so even if there’s a misunderstanding, the viewers will know I didn’t intend on it and I get to work with veteran celebrities and they accept pretty much all I say as long as it doesn’t cross the line. And I don’t know that many celebrities. I never even went on a trip with my friends in high school. So I love traveling with the cast of “Two Nights and One Day.” I can’t wait till we shoot another expisode and I feel so happy when I make others laugh.

10: You seem to have a vibe that’s different from other celebrities your age. Even at year-end award events, you didn’t seem to quite fit into the category of idol stars.
Lee: You’re right. I felt that at the end of the year. The singers were all sitting together but I felt awkward being there. Amongst the idols, plus I’m not really that with anyone in particular. And the idol singers dance too so I wouldn’t really get to perform with them either.

10: Does working alone, separate from people your age, influence your work? You seemed to be a bit uneasy in responding to another actor’s lines in comparison to when you lead a scene alone in SBS TV series “Shining Inheritance.”
Lee: It’s because my acting wasn’t good. And I’m the type that practices a lot so I had gone over my lines numerous times. I memorize my lines perfectly to make up for my acting but that doesn’t always mean I’ll deliver them perfectly either. But I wouldn’t think of that and just pour out my lines, even after making a mistake. Because that’s how I rehearsed. (lauigh) I think that’s why my acting may have seemed awkward. And I’d be the clumsy character on a variety show at 6:30 p.m. then a son of an heir at 10 p.m. so I think that didn’t help in getting viewers into my character.

10: Are you not pressured by doing a variety of work?
Lee: I like to be natural. People see me as Lee Seung-gi so when I did “Shining Inheritance,” I think it was good that there was some of me in the character rather just being the plain bad boy. People have already seen the me at 6:30 p.m. I think I’d be driving viewers away if I was greedy and declared that acting is something completely different.

10: But a variety of responses come out depending on the success or failure of every realm of the entertainment industry you work in. For example, if your drama does well but not your music, they’ll still say you failed.
Lee: I honestly had expected my fourth album to do better so the result wasn’t as satisfying. But before that, “Will You Marry Me” received great response, much more than I had expected. I think there are times that something will work out better than you expected or worse. In the beginning I would feel good after hearing a compliement and then disgruntled after being criticized. But I don’t think I should be swayed by it.

10: You were very popular last year — doesn’t that pressure you?
Lee: I’m always the same. I wanted to be the same person I was when I first debuted so that’s why I kept working hard on “Two Nights and One Day” after “Shining Inheritance.”

10: Then how do you picture yourself in the future?
Lee: People like Kang Ho-dong and baseball player Park Chan-ho say they want to do all that they can, while they can, rather than quitting at one point and becoming a legend. They want to keep going till there is no lingering emotion left. It’s the same for me too. And I still have about ten years left to become their age so I’ll work hard for the time being.

10: Many mothers pick you as the ideal son for your trustworthy image. What sort of atmosphere were you raised in?
Lee Seung-gi (Lee): They never set any restrictions. But no matter what, they did not like me sleeping over at someone else’s house. So even in college, if I hang out till late with my friends, I would still go home to sleep.

10: Isn’t it hard being a celebrity and a college student at the same time? You graduated without taking a single leave. Are there any special memories you have from that time?
Lee: College went by in a flash. I wanted to enjoy it more but I couldn’t get the best of both worlds. I didn’t have time to hang out with other students or anything.

[news] top 10 people of 2009, according to 10Asia

In the entertainment industry, the end of a year is a season about watching and talking about “people”. Many media outlets select their “person of the year” and people flock to year-end awards shows to hear a quote from stars that they do not get to see often. <10asia> picked our own figures of the year, but there is no red carpet or photo spotlights for the stars to enter upon. Our selection of “persons of 2009” are not top stars who attained the most popularity from the public, but people who changed the landscape of Korea’s entertainment industry and stimulated the public with experiences that we had not had before.

Actress Ko Hyun-joung

“Now is the era of Mi-shil”. Mi-shil’s statement in the first episode of MBC’s “Queen Seon-deok” opened “the era of Ko Hyun-joung” as well. Ko said that she chose the role of Mi-shil because she “wanted to escape the arrows flying at the lead character”, but the powerfully charismatic Mi-shil will be remembered as one of the most memorable characters in the history of Korean traditional dramas. And it was the perfect opportunity for Ko to break out her acting skills that she had kept repressed all these years and with this drama, she proclaimed to the world that she had “really made a comeback” since returning to the industry in 2004. Her film “Actresses”, which opened in December, offers a look into the personal life and inner side of this extraordinary actress, but after everything that she has gone through, Ko proved one thing and one thing only; for an actor, acting is what matters.

Producer Kim C

Kang Ho-dong, the MC and leader of KBS’s variety program “One Night Two Days”, calls him “Sir Kim”. This symbolically shows that producer Kim C holds a unique and unprecedented position in Korean variety shows. He is truly a “one of a kind loner” who cannot be allured into the world of Kang Ho-dong, who is known for leading other members with his charisma. He is so unfazed by set-ups and ratings that people sometimes accuse of him of not trying hard enough, but that is what makes “One Night Two Days” so real and lively and what made the KBS show “Invincible Baseball Team”, where he was recruited as coach, into a baseball variety program. The more he cursed and shouted at the players on the show, the more it helped in making the show real. It is ironic that he became the most essential figure on the two most prominent variety shows of 2009 by breaking free from the conventional rules of television. The current trend in Korean variety shows regards pre-established direction and set-ups as corny, so his seemingly unimpressed expressions and honest dialogue may serve as the best blue chip.

Director Kim Byung-wook

Director Kim Byung-wook can put together melodrama and black comedy through the story of one family and cover various topics ranging from modern Korean families to politics, economy and class. Such feat is a new ground that had not been seen in a sitcom and drama, and is also the essence of Kim that sums of all of his filmography. Thus, it is meaningless to categorize director Kim Byung-wook as a “sitcom director”. Through “High Kick 2”, he himself became a unique genre of his own.

Figure skater Kim Yuna

Kim Yuna makes the list again in 2009. Since some time ago, Kim Yuna became a fixture on the list of most prominent figures of the year. This is not due to inertia. In fact, when she lighted up the year of 2008 with her “Danse Macabre” routine, it was hard to anticipate that this excellent figure skater would do anything more because she had already reached another level. But Bond girl Kim Yuna, with her new “007 James Bond Medley” routine, showed fans that she could do even more. She became the first female single skater to breach the 200-point mark and the viewership rating for her competition reached 25 percent which is higher than ratings for popular weekend drama “Three Brothers” (KBS). But even those remarkable facts do not do justice to the artistic achievements that she has shown on the ice. The real opponent of this young skater may be the history of figure skating, not Asada Mao or Joannie Rochette.

Producer Kim Tae-ho

This year, Korean real variety shows made quite an accomplishment in terms of both quality and quantity. MBC’s “Infinite Challenge” may be the oldest among all the shows but it is still the most refreshing real variety show. The “Pimple Break” segment, where the cast were placed under control like actors within a given scenario, was a discovery of a new genre that was neither a movie or real variety show. There were even new, long-term suggestions for the variety show's production systems, such as producing yearly calendars. And at the center of it stands producer Kim Tae-ho. If writers are the new powerful forces in variety shows, then producer Kim Tae-ho would be at the top of the list.

Producer Song Byung-joon

He produced KBS TV series “Boys Over Flowers” and MBC’s “Tamra, The Island”. The simple fact that Song produced a hit drama, a controversial drama, well-made and badly-made dramas and one that was cut short all within a year makes him interesting. Just like his unique career -- he started as a music director and then an actor before he turned producer -- he continuously succeeded and failed through a series of attempts that no one had ever tried before, such as discovering comic book sources, starting pre-productions of dramas and hiring unknown actors. It is still unclear if he -- who is planning to make dramas based on [comic book author] Lee Hyun-se’s golf comic “Birdie” and Japan’s boy-meets-girl story “Foolish Kiss” plus a musical version of [Korean hit TV series] “Goong” -- will see huge success next year. What is clear, however, is that there are very few producers in Korea who have such artistic vision.

Actor Lee Min-ho

At the start of the year, Korea welcomed a new kind of pretty boy. The character Gu Jun-pyo in KBS TV series “Boys Over Flowers”, who looks like an exquisite mixture of Julian the Apostate and [legendary Korean singer] Na Hoon-ah, captured the hearts of numerous females with his immature behavior and aggressive style of dating. And new actor Lee Min-ho, who debuted four years ago, instantly became a star with the most passionate group of fans. Thanks to the newfound popularity, cable channels started showing [Lee’s unknown film] “Our School ET” and the Internet started to become flooded with scenes from [his previous dramas] “Secret Campus”(EBS, 2006) and “Mackerel Run” (SBS, 2007). It is disappointing that he followed up his brilliant success with donut commercials [for Dunkin Donuts Korea] and Southeast Asia tours [for fan meetings], but a volcano is set to explode once it has been awoken. And since he has announced that he will start working again, the volcanic eruption of Lee Min-ho seems not too far away.

Actor Lee Byung-hun

There are many stars but not all prove to have star quality. The reason Lee Byung-hun became a prominent entertainer in 2009 was not only because he participated in huge projects but also because he has proven to possess that abstract but influential thing called star quality. When he appeared in the Hollywood blockbuster “G.I. Joe”, he made villain Storm Shadow the most fascinating character in the film and he easily made his presence known as the big star of the host country, leading VIP co-stars Josh Hartnett and Kimura Takuya from “I Come With The Rain” to the 14th Pusan International Film Festival. On top of all that, the end-of-year commercial success of KBS drama “Iris” marked the finishing touch on Lee’s acting work this year. Compared to all the other so-called blockbuster dramas such as SBS’s “Cain and Abel” and “Swallow The Sun” which were unable to draw much attention from the Korean public, “Iris” scored viewership rating over 30 percent and stood at the center of the spotlight. This is what it means to be of different class.

Singer Lee Seung-gi

Once a good boy, always a good boy. Lee Seung-gi, who not only works hard but excels in what he does, received excellent grades on his report card as an all-around entertainer as singer, actor and variety show regular. In the popular KBS variety show “One Night Two Days”, his character became a source of good humor on the show and his star turn in SBS drama “Shining Inheritance” helped score a 40-percent-plus viewership rating. One Saturday when the combined ratings of Lee’s two shows added up to 70 percent, the country started calling him “The 100 percent man (in terms of viewership rating)”. He became the consumers’ favorite star for commercials because he does not even have any anti-fans. He is liked by all age groups; for elementary school kids, he is the friendly boy-next-door; to young fans around his own age, he is the good, average “son of mom’s friend”; and older fans see him as the flawless, model celebrity. From a scale of one to ten, this was a 100-point year for Lee.

Producer Teddy

In an interview with <10asia>, music producer Teddy explained what producing means in the K-pop scene these days -- “everything from music to styling”. And he showed us what he meant by introducing girl group 2NE1, who had integrated music, fashion and music video as a group and whose character was defined by such integration. 2NE1 is the best example of how important it is to combine visual style with music that was pre-conceived and produced under a certain concept. This year, Teddy was the “trendsetter” amongst all the prominent songwriters and producers in Korea.
