[news] U-Kiss jumpstarts Kpop invasion!

The K-Pop (Korean Pop) Invasion has begun.

The famous K-Pop group called U-Kiss composed of Alexander, Kevin, Dong Ho, Eli, Ki Bum, Soo Hyun, and Ki Seob met up with a large group of TV and print people at Annabel’s Restaurant Tomas Morato two hours after their 12:00pm arrival at the Centennial Airport two hours ago. They rushed straight to the press conference venue.

U-Kiss is part of the many Korean stars like Big Bang, Wonder Girls, 2NE1 (of which Sandara Park, now known as Dara Park, is a crew) that will invade the country.

U-Kiss found it very warm here in the Philippines. They said wanting to give a good impression of themselves with their first showcase at the Mega Mall at the same day.

Eli, one of the more charming members, speaks very good English having been raised and educated by his Korean parents in the US. He went to China to work. It was in the talent training agency he worked in that he was discoved as a U-Kiss crew. He spoke for the group most of the time.

U-Kiss debuted in Atamai, Japan at “The Second Power of Atamix ’08.” This paved the way form a successful solo show in Hamamatsucho, Japan. Since then, the band released three singles and their current full-length studio album “Without You” is rapidly climbing the charts of various Asian countries.

U-Kiss was awarded the Best New Artist award at the “Asian Song Festival” in 2008. Members Kevin and Alexander are chosen as VJs for Arirang’s “Pops in Seoul” while Dong Ho is currently a member of the “Unrivalled Baseball Team.”

U-Kiss held special mall shows at selected SM Nega Mall on March 26, SM Clark on March 27, and SM North EDSA Annex on March 28 to promote the band’s full-length, solo concert here this June and its top-selling CD commercially released in the country by Universal Records.

“Only One” as distributed by Universal Records has eight English tracks “Intro,” “Without You,” “Bang Bang Bang,” “Dancing Floor,” “OK!” Remix, “(I Like You)” Remix, “Talk To Me” Remix, “Give It To Me” Remix, and six songs in the Korean language.

Present in the presscon were GMA Artist Center head Ida Henares, with Arsi Baltazar and Ronnie Henares. Also present were Kathleen Dy Go and Ramon Chuaing of Universal Records. (Images by Carlo Orosa)

[news] U-KISS wants to collaborate with Pinoy acts. Who can you suggest?

Korean pop sensation U-KISS (short for Ubiquitous Korean International Idol Super Star) charmed its way into the hearts of the local media on Friday when the seven-member group expressed desire to collaborate with Filipino artists. The UKISS boys are very much interested in Filipino musicians that one of the members knew the classic Freddie Aguilar song “Anak” and even hummed a few notes of the song the boys called “a very touching story.”

“We would like to collaborate with Filipino artists. It’s one of the things we’re looking forward to with this trip to Manila,” said the members of U-KISS who were here for a couple of SM Mall stops and TV gigs over GMA-7. The boys performed Monday on the pilot telecast of “Party Pilipinas.”

U-KISS is even aware of another Korean celebrity Sandara Park who made a name here in the country and is now successful in her homeland. “Yes, we know her. We would also like to have the opportunity to work with her. That would be an exciting thing for us,” said the group who seem to be very comfortable communicating in English.

When the Manila Bulletin asked U-KISS to define what they wish to share with the Filipino music lovers, they said, “Since our name stands for Ubiquitous Korean International Idol Super Star, we want to reach out to more of the international music market. We want our listeners and audiences to appreciate the kind of fun music we offer. We are a very friendly group with a friend sound to offer.”

U-KISS is composed of Alexander Lee, Kevin, Dong Ho, Eli, Ki Bum, Hyun, and Ki Seob. Back in August 2008, the boy group made their live debut at “The Second Power of Atamix 08,” held in Atami, Japan. UKISS was named “Best New Artist” at the “Asian Song Festival.”

The young boyband appeared on “Party Pilipinas” last Sunday and toured local malls over the weekend. A major Manila concert for UKISS will happen in May or June. The boys have an album out called “U-KISS 1st: Only One.” The CD has 14 tracks including “Without You,” “Bang Bang Bang,” “Dancing Floor,” “OK!,” “Talk To Me,” and “Give It To Me,” among other cuts. The CD is distributed locally by Universal Records.

After gaining much popularity with their new song 'Bingeul Bingeul', U-KISS's Eli is now appearing on a cable channel and showing his 'gag-dol (gag idol)' talent.

Eli recently did a filming for cable channel MBC ESPN's F1 Real Variety '2010 F1 Speed Racer'. During the filming, Eli did not hesitate to show his great sense of humor in front of variety program's seniors (such as Han Min Gwan, Moon Hee Jun, Yoon Taek, Kim Hyung In etc)and received a recognition for it.

Eli does not afraid to show his funny side, which surprised the production team.

The secret of Eli gaining the attention as 'gag-dol' is because of the comedian Han Min Gwan. It was known that Han Min Gwan was the one that helped Eli in his gag.

Han Min Gwan said "Eli always provides material that can make the broadcasting crew laughed so hard. He really has good senses of humor for variety programs. I did a program with U-KISS Dongho too but Eli seems to be one step ahead of him."

Right after the shooting started, the crew was constantly waiting for Eli's adlibs. Whenever Eli said something, the female staffs will burst into laughter.

Kim Hyung In showed his jealousy "Eli and I did the same gag but the laughter that came out from the staffs are different. You guys laughed because he's good looking right?".


The promising 'gag-dol' Eli showing his sense of humor can be watched on the March 23rd broadcast of MBC ESPN '2010 F1 Speed Racer'.

[news] 'Raising Idol'…The Project Of Turning The Normal Idol Into The 'Know-It-All' Idol

Comedy TV ‘Raising Idols’.. 3 people including U-KISS Dongho’s special training.

Comedy TV’s new program ‘Raising Idols’ will be broadcased for the first time on March 27th at 10:30 o’clock.


3 Korea’s raising idols were selected and will be learning new skills from the female teachers in order to be known as the ‘know-it-all-idol’ in the 21st century. Looks, dance, singing and lots more of new skills will be learned by U-KISS’s Dongho, SHINee’s Key and MBLAQ’s Thunder.

The first challenger will be the idol magnae’s representative, Dongho. He has taken the variety programs world by storm with his cute face and sportsman image, but in order to become a global Korean Idols, he’ll take up a special English class.

The second challenger is SHINee’s Key who will take up the cooking class in order to become every women’s romance guy.

The third challenger will be MBLAQ’s Thunder, who was groomed by world star Rain and is known for his status as the younger brother of girl group 2NE1’s Sandara Park. Thunder’s task is to shape up his body in order to become a charismatic beastly idol.

It has been known that there have been preparations for special ceremony for HWASEUNG OZ Lee JaeDong.

Lee JaeDong made an appearance as the winner of the past season in 2010 MSL Season 1 Selection Ceremony on 25-May held in Seoul, YoungDeungPo-gu MoonRae-dong, Loox Hero Centre. Lee JaeDong aroused curiosity when he made known that he will have a special ceremony on his entrance for the selection ceremony.

The ceremony that Lee JaeDong chose is to dance to boy group U-KISS's 'Binggeul Binggeul'. In the afternoon of 25-Mar, SS501's Kim HyungJoon went to HWASEUNG OZ company and made a special request. Appearing for variety program 'SS501 HyungJoon, To be a Pro-Gamer' by MBC Game, Kim HyungJoon visited HWASEUNG dorm and made his special request to Lee JaeDong after getting to know about the ceremony time during selection ceremony. His request is to use his brother, Kim KiBum's group, U-KISS's 'Binggeul Bingguel' as the background music and dance along to it.

Lee JaeDong agreed without hesitation to Kim HyungJoon's proposal and quickly downloaded the video to begin practicing the dance. Lee JaeDong has been practicing the dance at HWASEUNG dorm, selection ceremony venue and even during travelling in car, doing his best to keep his promise to Kim HyungJoon.

Lee JaeDong said "After agreeing to Mr Kim HyungJoon's request, I had been practicing diligently, however I am not sure if I will do well."

Lee JaeDong had previously shown his hidden talent when he danced to techtonik dance on stage during 2009 in a meeting with HWASEUNG fans.

[NEWS] U-Kiss Signs with Philippine’s Premiere Entertainment!

Seems like U-Kiss will be the first Korean group to ever sign with a major entertainment company in the Philippines!

Philippine’s top entertainment company, Premiere Entertainment Philippines, otherwise known as PEP for short, has chosen U-Kiss as the first Korean group to sign a contract with! As to why U-Kiss was chosen out of other popular groups, a representative said that U-Kiss is very international-based, with members who can speak multiple languages ranging from Spanish to Chinese! Due to such a profound and unique skill that not many groups have, U-Kiss was given the opportunity to sign with a company in the Philippines.

U-Kiss will be holding a showcase from March 26-28 in various cities in the Philippines, including Manila. In addition, they will be promoting their music with well known companies such as GMA, the music channel MYX, and the Universal Records label.

Congratulations to U-Kiss for achieving such a great feat!

U-Kiss’ Soohyun described his feelings about his awkward scandal with 2AM’s JoKwon.

Soohyun and JoKwon were best friends even before debut.
Their deep friendship was emphasized on their individual mini-homepages. Such pictures and various ‘love signs’ confused fans into thinking they are gay.

During TV Daily’s interview with Soohyun, he remarked “The scandal with Kwon surprised me.’
Soohyun says “We became to know each other when we met as JYP trainees. I shared a friendship with all trainees not just JoKwon. Especially Beast’s KiKwang and DongWoon.
Also “Now that I read the messages over, I suppose we were a little harsh.” But “Those are all memories and it doesn’t matter because I’m not gay anyways..”

Kibum who was listening from the side recalled “After the news came out, during KBS 2TV ‘Music Bank,’ those two met.” Also, “Suddenly JoKwon hyung said to Soohyun hyung ‘Let’s not be friends anymore’ as a joke.”

Soohyun finalizes the interview with a smile, saying, “Truthfully I’m very grateful to Kwon. Our scandal made my name reach number 1 on various search engines.”

7 member group, U-Kiss (Alexander, Soohyun, Kevin, Kibum, Eli, Dongho, Kiseop), who caused a craze with the 'Gangnam Dance' through 'Man Man Ha Ni'. These boys are back as men with stronger, more mature looks and intense charisma.

The U-Kiss members have shown off the talents in various programs, through music, variety, radio etc. The members are tired with their busy schedules but "we will be happy if we were busier and more tired", they revealed, laughing.

Popularity from 'Man Man Ha Ni' to 'Bingeul Bingeul'? It's still lacking!

U-Kiss, who received a lot of attention for the strong man dance in 'Man Man Ha Ni' as well as outstanding performances in variety programs during the 2nd half of 2009, is back this time with electronic hip-hop song, 'Bingeul Bingeul'. It has enthralled the fans with its addictive chorus and tornado dance.

In response to a question about the reactions of fans towards new song 'Bingeul Bingeul', Kibum said, "honestly, during our 1st and 2nd singles, people were not really aware of us. Our popularity started rising a little from 'Man Man Ha Ni'."

"Therefore, we honestly had great expectations for this album. Although we received a lot of love as compared to the beginning, it still seems like it's lacking," he added.

"Since 'Bingeul Bingeul' is the start, will it not get better?" said the ambitious Kibum.

Seeing ghosts is a sign of success? We rather not..

There are a few popular beliefs of signs on success in the singing industry. For example, constantly seeing ghosts in the recording studio or having unidentifiable sounds appearing in your music are some of the signs.

When asked if they saw any of such signs during their preparation for the new album, the members "no" together.

"During our 1st and 2nd album promotions, we often saw ghost-like figures or experienced sudden power failures. So while we said 'this is going to be a big hit', things didn't go as well as we expected."

"During 'Man Man Ha Ni', we didn't experience such things. But we received much better responses than we did for our previous albums. So in future, we hope we don't experience such believed signs of success."
