[News] Wonder Girls Feelings About SunMi Leaving The Group

Girlgroup WonderGirls members SunYe, YooBin, YeEun and SoHee talks about their feelings on SunMi’s leaving the group.

The 4 WonderGirls members hada meeting with their WonderGirls fan union on 8th February and the fan union released the details throught their fancafe at about 11pm.

According to the representative of the fan union, SunMi’s training was shorter as compared to the other members since her debut she had missed out a much of her schooling life. And the members constantly felt SunMi’s regrets about it after they had their American debut.

They told the fans, “But our responses were the same as fans when it was revealed that SunMi will be stopping her promotions as WonderGirls for the time being. At first we panicked, and said that she will regret this, but after awhile we calmed down and gave our support for her decision.”

They also said, “And we know that SunMi is not one to make such decisions lightly, she has been thinking about this for a while, and discussed it with the members and company.”

And the WonderGirls member explained that rumours of the company pushing SunMi to leave the group is groundless. They said, “Debuting in the States was a dream which all the members have dreamt of. Even though we were afraid with all the saying that it is too early for our American debut, we really wanted to go to the States.”

They added, “The company also do not wish for its singers to be like puppet singers who just listens to whatever the company tells them to do.”

The members also talked about their feelings on SunMi temporarily stopping promotions as part of the WonderGirls. Especially for SoHee, who is of the same age as SunMi and stopped her high school education for her singer career together with SunMi, said, “It is true that it is hard to be away from the family as still a young student, so I understand how SunMi feels. With that said, I believed that she has thought things out since it is her choice after all.”

The WonderGirls also emphasized, “Even though ‘WonderGirls SuMi’ is important, individual ‘SunMi’ is also very important. Since this is her decision on her own life, if us members are to hold on to her, later on when she regrets, we don’t know how we are going to be responsible for that.”

Also, “There are people who are criticising like ‘This is the decision you made in the beginning, why are you calling it ends now?’. We hope people don’t look at it this way since hardship means differently to every individual and they deal with them differently.”

The 4 members of the WonderGirls had the meeting with 5 fan union representative from about 2pm in the afternoon that day.

Meanwhile, on 23rd January it was announced that SunMi will leave WonderGirls for the time being. With that, SunMi will be with the WonderGirls till the end of the month. And from March, she will return to Korea to start preparations for her college life.

And JYP trainee HyeRim (Lim) will be taking over the empty position in the group. Already on 4th February, she had her first official performance as part of the WonderGirls in China for an event.

[News/Photos] Hyun-woo For A Pasta Themed Photo Shoot

Hyun-woo plays a lesser side character in MBC’s Pasta, but he’s one of the drama’s breakouts, winning viewers over with his comic touch (and curly mop) as one of the restaurant’s trio of “pretty boy chefs.” He recently shot a photo spread (with a pasta theme, of course) and gave an interview for Hello TV, a “premium TV magazine” that acts as an online digital cable service.

The photo shoot took place at the restaurant where Pasta films, Buona Sera (which goes by the name La Sfera in the drama). Hyun-woo says that thanks to playing a talented Italian cook, he’s developed some pasta-cooking skills of his own, and plans to throw a big pasta dinner party (featuring his own cooking) for his family once the drama’s over. His shoot and interview will be available on Hello TV through February.

Meanwhile, Pasta is steadily improving in the ratings, and even has producers eyeing an extension. It has not been finalized, but if so, the drama will gain four episodes. (Although I enjoy Pasta, I cringe at this news; I think an extension is a Very Bad Idea. I can see why MBC is eager to crown one of its series a success given its spotty last year or two, but four more episodes just might kill it — it’s cute and charming, but slow enough as it is.)

[News] C.N. Blue Is Not Entitled To Be Called As A Band?

http://www.koreatimes.co.kr/upload/news/100208_p16_shin1.jpg

Rocker Shin Hae-chul, well-known for his straightforward, savage criticism against social and pop culture issues, spewed venom again ― this time against four-member band CNBLUE.

Shin added fuel to ongoing disputes involving allegations that the group's hit song ``I'm a Loner'' off its debut album ``Bluetory'' is a copy of an indie band's song.

The hit song has been accused of having ``shocking similarities'' with an indie band Ynot's ``Blue Bird.''

The fast rising group's song swept the music charts after it was released in mid-January. CNBLUE's agency FNC Music has denied the allegations.

On his Web site, Shin posted sarcastic comments that slam CNBLUE for alleged plagiarism, Saturday.

``If the song (``I'm a Loner'') is not plagiarism, plagiarism will disappear in the world,'' Shin said.

He also said CNBLUE is not entitled to be called a ``band.''

``If CNBLUE is an indie band, a fly is a bird. If it's a real band, I will retire,'' he said.

His comments are igniting a fresh round of disputes not only over the plagiarism allegations but the appropriateness of Shin's remarks as well.

Internet users have posted lots of comments on his homepage and other Web sites.

The Ynot band members have threatened to file a complaint against CNBLUE if it does not make public its position about the plagiarism allegations.

CNBLUE is comprised of guitarist and lead singer Jung Yong-hwa, guitarist and vocalist Lee Jong-hyun, drummer Kang Min-hyuk and bass guitarist Lee Jung-shin.

[News] Actresses Heading Towards The Small Screen

Fans of TV dramas already have an ample lineup of witty programs to choose from, but the list will become more colorful with a number of top actresses returning to the small screen.

Movie star Son Ye-jin is tapping into the small screen market with "Personal Interest" (working title) after appearing in the dark thriller "Walking the White Night" (2009).

Son will appear as Park Gae-in, the CEO of a famous furniture company, who dreams of having a gay guy friend. She gets close to her dream when she ends up living with Jeon Jin-ho, whom she mistakes as the perfect match for her. Jeon will be played by "Boys Over Flowers" star Lee Min-ho.

The actress expressed the difficulty of portraying her "White Night" character during press events and interviews, and it seems like she will be able to brush away the mysterious and dark personality. The movie may have not topped the box office, but it showed how fearless the 28-year-old is when it comes to acting.

"I wanted to be involved in a bright and fun drama and I liked the character ― cute and charming and always up to the task," Son said.

The actress has been lucky when it comes to co-actors, performing opposite some of the top stars in Korea, including Bae Yong-joon, Kim Ju-hyuk, Jung Woo-sung and Ji Jin-hee.

Viewers will have to wait and see if she can embody the bubbly character, and create chemistry with the 22-year-old Lee.

"Personal Interest" will start airing in April on MBC.

Actress Moon Geun-young recently applied for a temporary leave from school to focus on her new television series "Cinderella's Sister" (working title). The 22-year-old actress will be playing a modern Cinderella who plots revenge against her step mother and sister.

Moon recently posted her feelings on her personal blog, comparing the drama to a well made dish.

"I will be starting to cook soon. I went over the recipe, how long it will take for me to finish cooking and also the ingredients needed," she wrote.

"I feel like it will turn out to be a very delicious dish and I promise that we will do our best."

Her fellow cast members will also add to the highly anticipated recipe, with the characters played by boy group 2PM member Ok Taec-yeon and actor Chun Jeong-myeong competing to steal Moon's heart. This is Ok's first drama, while Chun will be returning to the small screen for the first time in four years.

Moon has earned the nickname "the nation's little sister" over the years, but dropped off the public radar when she enrolled at Sungkyunkwan University to major in Korean literature in 2006. She returned to fans with the television series "Painter of Wind" (SBS) in 2008, and eventually won the Grand Prize at the SBS Drama Awards.

"Cinderella's Sister" will start airing late March in KBS.

Famous for her flawless skin and pretty features, Han Ga-in is one of the most popular cosmetic models in the nation. Pretty she may be, but the 28-year-old has yet to reach the top of the acting field since debuting in 2002. This year will hopefully bring some progress in her career, as she will meet fans through new drama "Bad Man" (working title) opposite Kim Nam-gil from hit period drama "The Great Queen Seondeok."

"Han is busy focusing on her character. It's been three years since her last work, and she is looking forward to meeting her fans as soon as possible," J.One + Entertainment said.

The series "Bad Man" will feature Han as a stubborn character that uses her charms to climb the corporate ladder, an edgier role than her previous soft and pretty characters. It features Kim as a businessman who dreams big, both personally and professionally.

"Bad Man," produced by the makers of "I'm Sorry, I Love You" (2004, KBS) and "The Snow Queen" (2006, KBS), will start airing in May on SBS.

Meanwhile, Han Chae-young is also returning to the small screen as a headstrong city desk reporter in new soap "The Man Who is Called a God" (working title). The new soap will be Han's first drama in four years.

The 29-year-old's priority has seemed to be films over the past few years. Except for a supporting role in the hit drama "Boys Over Flowers," she starred in "Girlfriends" and "Good Morning President" in 2009, and has two more films in the pipeline for 2010. Nevertheless, Han is expecting to change that by appearing as a passionate reporter with fellow actor Song Il-gook and actress Han Go-eun.

"The Man Who is Called a God," based on the namesake cartoon by the late cartoonist Park Bong-seong, will start airing in March on MBC.

Last but not least, Chae Rim is waiting to captivate viewers with her charms through new series "Oh My Lady!" The 30-year-old actor, who appeared in "All About Eve" (2000, MBC) and "Dalja's Spring" (2007, KBS) will star as a bubbly and enthusiastic housewife-turned-top star manager. Also famous in China, she is expected to play opposite Super Junior member Choi Si-won.

Chae Rim has been busy flying back and forth from Taiwan for dramas, and the actress is aiming to captivate viewers once again.

"Oh My Lady" will start airing in March on SBS.
