[News] Kara claims third win on weekly TV music show

Female idol group Kara claimed another victory on televised music show over the weekend. 

The five-member girl band scored their third consecutive win on KBS' music program "Music Bank" on Friday with the title track "Lupin", from their third mini-album of the same name. 

The girls were up against another female group T-ara's "I Go Crazy Because of You" and hip-hop trio Epik High's "Run." 

Other contenders on the show included Beast, M4, 2AM, Girls' Generation and Supreme Team. 

Kara - composed of members Han Seung-yeon, Nicole, Kang Ji-young, Park Gyu-lee, Gu Hara - splashed into the Korean pop music scene in 2007 with their debut album "Blooming." 

They have released two full-length albums and three mini-albums to date, which produced several hits including "Pretty Girl," "Wanna" and "Mister." 

SBS' Sunday music program "Inkigayo" did not air due to breaking news.

[News] 2PM Taecyeon must protect Kim Yuna?

Must 2PM Taecyeon put his soul on the line to protect figure queen Kim Yeona? With the release of the fantasy blockbuster 'Solomon Kane' on the 25th, there has been a survey that researched various characters that fit the image of the main characters. The celebrities that were chosen are 2PM's Taecyeon for the role of Solomon Kane, a character that must save the world, and Kim Yeona for the role of Meredith, a legendary figure that Kane must protect.

In the survey, 2PM Taecyeon beat Big Bang's TOP by a small margin. Many felt that his beastly image was perfect for the role of the warrior.

TOP's charismatic eyes brought him in at 41% in 2nd place, and 2AM's Im Seulong came in at 3rd place with 10%. CN Blue's Jung Yonghwa took 4th with 4%.

For the role of Meredith, Kim Yeona took 1st with 81% of the votes, while Shin Sekyung took 2nd with 8% for her innocent glamour, sexy queen Hyori in 3rd with 6%, and SNSD's unique girl Seohyun in 4th with 3%.

[News] Choi Jin-shil’s brother Choi Jin-young commits suicide

Only a year and a half after his older sister committed suicide, now actor-singer Choi Jin-young has been discovered dead after taking his own life on the morning of March 29.

Choi Jin-young’s body is currently in the funeral hall of a Kangnam hospital in Seoul. A rep from his side said on the afternoon of the 29th, “We heard the sudden sad news from his family. We heard that he has passed away, but we were not told the details. We are stricken with grief.”

Much-beloved actress Choi Jin-shil’s death rocked the industry when she committed suicide after battling depression in October 2008. Her mental anguish was aggravated by the constant malicious harassment of a netizen who accused Choi of contributing to the suicide of her friend, fellow actor Ahn Jae-hwan, just a month prior. Those two deaths were the first in a series of celebrity suicides that followed (many of those celebrities were said to be battling depression as well).

After her death, an ugly custody battle unfolded between her family (Jin-young and their mother) and her ex-husband, former baseball player (and deadbeat dad and abusive husband) Jo Sung-min, who eventually relinquished his claim after massive public outcry. Her two children were being raised by Jin-young and their grandmother, and Jin-young had taken on a fatherly role to them. He was even planning on making an acting comeback — he announced plans to return to television just earlier this month. He had announced, “I’ve got to earn a living and start acting again for the sake of my niece and nephew. I’ll have to show them in person what kind of work their uncle does.”

Choi Jin-young battled depression of his own, and sank into a prolonged spell following his sister’s death. It is believed that he died by hanging; his mother discovered his body at home and police were called on Monday afternoon. Choi was 39.

[News] Release of teaser videos from Rain and Lee Hyori in 1 hour interval – start of the April mega showdown

We see the start of the ‘April mega showdown’ with the release of comeback teaser video by Lee Hyori and Rain within a one-hour interval today.

Lee Hyori released the teaser video to her comeback at 11am on Mnet and Naver showing new radical hairstyle and fashion concepts for her comeback on 29th March. And in less than 10 minutes into the reveal, it is already up #1 on search portal sites.

And following at 12 noon, Rain released a new teaser video to his comeback special album. And what is special about this album is that the title song is a ballad and not a dance song like Rain’s usual hits.

Another highlight to the comeback is that for the MV, Rain will be working with Han YeSeul. Rain will show a ’soft guy’ side of him in the MV.

This marks the start of the mega showdown of the Kpop singers in April. Other than Rain and Lee Hyori, other singers like 2PM, Son DamBi etc are also set to have their comeback in April.

Lee Hyori will release the MV to the album on 1st April and the full album release on 8th April. And Rain will release his new special album on 1st April.

[NEWS] BEAST's Yoon Doojoon, "I didn't want to return to Korea"!

BEAST's leader Yoon Doojoon confessed that he didn't want to return to Korea before.

Yoon Doojoon is currently a fixed member on the corner 'Danbi' of MBC's "Sunday Sunday Night." 'Danbi' is a show about showing foreign countries with poor environments being visited as they are serviced. Recently, an episode of Haiti and the refugee camp has brought a great deal of attention.

Yoon Doojoon had an interview with T-News and confessed, "While filming 'Danbi', I didn't want to come back to Korea." He also said, "When we went to Kenya around the Masai (excuse the spelling if it is incorrect) and when we met there, I really had the thought of not wanting to come back. I normally like nature with the mountains and the sea, and the surroundings there were so refrshing and the view was indeed paradise. I felt nature peacefully."

Also, he said, "More than anything, when I laid down on the ground to sleep, the stars that filled the sky looked amazing. It's something you can never see in Seoul and it was a sparkling scene that sparkled. That was when I didn't want to come back to Korea."

Through the show 'Danbi', Yoon Doojoon gained a lot of love as he didn't hesitate to throw himself out there to work and did what he was told without a complaint. With this image, he even earned the nickname 'Namchindol' (which means Boyfriend Idol).

He said, "I'm always filming with a thankful heart. Of course, there's the meaning behind the show which is to be charitable but through meeting others, I feel as if I'm learning more. I'm truly thankful that this is a chance for me to broaden my experiences and knowledge."

Yoon Doojoon is currently promoting the title song 'Shock' of Beast's 2nd album. On the past 25th, Beast had won 1st place on Mnet Countdown after their debut as he even showed tears of joy.
