[info]Se7en Celebrates 25th Birthday!

With the latest buzz that Se7en will be a special guest at G-dragon's concert today Se7en also makes fan headlines as he celebrates his birthday. Let us take a look back to what made Choi DongWook, one of Korea's hottest singer as Se7en.

Se7en was born on November 9, 1984 to a family of two older sisters, loving parents and a grandmother. During middle school, he began his training under YG Entertainment where he stayed eventually to debut in March of 2003. We were first introduced to Se7en with his album, Just Listen. Back then, he had brown-orange permed hair and a cute boyish charm. His singles such as "와줘.. (Come Back to Me)" "한번 단 한번 (Once, Just Once), " and "Baby I Like You Like That" helped showcase his vocal talent and dancing skills.

What has not changed was Se7en's R&B style and soothing voice. Se7en stuck to his original style, which has helped him keep his remaining fans and earn new ones as well. In July of 2004, Se7en released his sophomore album, Must Listen. His singles from this album were "열정 (Passion)," and "문신 (Tattoo)." One of the things I remembered during his promotion of "Passion" was his trendy hat. Fans had to know who made his hat. During this time in fashion, Von Dutch, was slowly becoming a popular brand that all the celebrities had to wear. Se7en's personalized hat from Von Dutch helped promote the brand and put him on the list as a fashion icon.

One of Se7en's dream was to perform abroad. In 2005, Se7en began his promotions in Japan with the release of his single, 光 (Hikari) in February, Style three months later and Start Line in October.

Over the years, Se7en's sense of style and music has matured. He left behind his jean jackets and traded them in for fitted blazers. His once brown-orange permed hair is a thing of the past. Se7en had other goals he wanted to achieve. Making a brand of cologne to call his own was one of them. During his third album, 24/Se7en, Se7en introduced his cologne, Touch, which can be seen in his music video for "와줘 Part 2 (Come Back to Me Part 2)." The singles from this album are "난 알아요 (I Know)," "와줘 Part 2 (Come Back To Me Part 2)," and "밤새도록 (All Night)." It was during this album that Se7en got his first tattoo of a G Clef Note with wings, which meant that he wishes to fly with his music. This tattoo invited him into the YG Family of tattoos. Se7en's tattoo can be seen in the music vieo for "난 알아요 (I Know)." Se7en takes his music seriously, but it was not until the third album that we got to see the composer in Se7en. In this album, Se7en composed the lyrics for "Intro (24/7)," "Interlude (Heaven)," "밤새도록 (All Night)," "Interlude (Follow Me)," and "Outro (7 Virus)."

On the same day, March 8, 2006, that Se7en released his third Korean album, he also released his fiirst Japanese album, First SE7EN, which made it to #15 on the Oricon Weekly Chart with a total sales of 18, 710 albums. Since then, Se7en continues to his activities in Japan.

Se7en continues to show us his talent by composing more songs for his fourth album, Se7olution. Songs written by Se7en include "Girlfriend" and "Promise." The majority of this album was composed of ballads. Both of his singles "라라라 (La La La)" and "잘할게 (I Will Do Well)" reveals a more mature Se7en.

After Se7olution, Se7en began his activities in America. During the hiatus in Korea, he asked Yang HyunSuk to reveal the unreleased music video for "밤새도록 (All Night)." As a gift to the fans, the music video was released on July 7, 2007 since he could not be with them on that lucky day.

Se7en's dream has always been to be a performer in America. In America, Se7en would find some success on BET's 106 & Park when his music video made it to the countdown. Despite his promotional efforts of "Girls," Se7en eventually stopped his activities in America to return to Korea.

For a superstar such as Se7en, having a relationship is usually kept a secret. In the past, rumors have floated around saying that Se7en was in a relationship with Park HanByul. For many years, the two has denied the rumors, only claiming to be friends from high school. In June of 2009, Se7en openly wrote on his mini homepage that he was in a relationship with Park HanByul. Their relationship has been kept a secret for seven years.

Se7en has won several awards throughout his career. Back in 2007, Se7en even dabbled in acting for the drama Goong S. Overseas, he has remade songs into Mandarin and English. This is not the end for Se7en. We will continue to see more from multi-talented singer, dancer, composer, fashion icon, entrepreneur, and actor.

Happy Birthday to Se7en, who is most likely spending this day with his loved ones--my guess is with Park HanByul.

[news]Enlistment day for Lee Ki-woo

Add Lee Ki-woo to the list of 1981-ers who have until the end of this year to enlist in their mandatory military service. The Star’s Lover actor headed off for his initial five-week training at Nonsan on the afternoon of November 9, sent off by the press and a small gathering of fans. Following training, Lee will head to active duty for the duration of his two-year service.

On the previous day, Lee had written on his mini-homepage, “I’m sad enough to be an ajusshi, but now I’ve become an army ajusshi, haha.” (Most men — namely, non-celebrities — will fulfill their military service earlier, often after high school or during their college years. Entertainers tend to push off their service as long as possible to capitalize on their fame before going, although there are some who go earlier and get a late start on their careers, such as Kang Ji-hwan. So it’s less common to see an older man — i.e., an ajusshi — doing his army service .)

Lee added in his posting, “Yesterday I cut my hair short, and now I’m off to the army. The polite thing to do would have been to meet everyone individually to say my goodbyes, but I’m sorry that I wasn’t able to do that. I won’t forget those who have always cared for me, and I promise to come see you again in two years.”

Lee still has a few projects that have yet to be released: melodrama Wedding Dress with Song Yoon-ah and crime thriller Family Picture will both be released while he is in service.

Lately, we see many celebrities serving their military service currently and are facing with some love difficulties.

And before HaHa, we have the chance of Kim JongMin who broke up with girlfriend HyunYoung in March. The 2 had got together after appearing on KBS 2TV ‘Happy Sunday’ and they broke up after 3 years.

[News] Say hello to a new year-end award ceremony

Melon.com, a popular online music website in Korea, has announced that it will be hosting a year-end music award ceremony.

The name of the ceremony is 2009 Melon Music Awards, and it will be hosted on December 16th. Melon, music distributor LOEN entertainment and cable TV company CU Media will be collaborating on this event. Melon expressed, "The 2009 Melon Music Awards will be focused on digital music sales and will be fair because sales is based purely on choice of the consumers and nobody else. We have planned this event as an alternative to traditional award ceremonies." The emphasis on fairness appears to be targeted towards Mnet's MAMA which has seen quite a number of artists shy away from it due to its questionable integrity.

Candidates of each award will be selected from songs released between the October 31 and November 1, and will be based on number of times that song has been played (30%), downloaded (50%) and other usage (20%). Combination of those factors amount to 80% and the rest are decided by user poll which starts on December 10th. There is a total of fifteen awards including Top 10, Artist of the Year, Album of the Year, OST of the Year, and The Most Popular Artist.

No information regarding participation of artists has been released so far, but since Melon is one of the biggest names in digital music industry, popular artists are expected to make appearance.

[NEWS] 2009 Kpop Girl Group Report Card

A group with a somewhat familiarized concept, T-ara: B

T-ara was known for the song "A Good Person" before they debuted, and then came out with the song "Lies" as well as "T.T.L." and "T.T.L Listen 2" with Supernova. Up until "Lies" the concept wasn't anything new. The songs, style, and choreography were a general mass of cliches. While other groups were striving to break the mold, T-ara was outwardly cliched. The result was just not as good as their input.

But after they started "T.T.L" promotions, they gave off a clubber feel and showed off a new image. Now they are promoting with Supernova with "T.T.L Listen 2." This change showed that they aren't just the typical pure girl group image type. In reality, the image change that "T.T.L" brought won't make everyone associate the song with T-ara, but it did bring them popularity. They need more image changes in the future.

The new and intense 4Minute:B+

4Minute debuted with "Hot Issue." To be honest, "Hot Issue" sounded like all the current trends were thrown into the song, so there was nothing new. As the title says, the song could've been a "Hot Issue" but there was no new musical style introduced in the song.

But with "Muzik" things started to change. The strong synthesizer sound, the heart-pumping beat and the strong hook arrangement gave a new sound unheard in most girl groups' songs. As they promoted "Muzik" they became known as "the relatively unknown group that has good songs." They received love, soon becoming #1 in music shows. The recent "What A Girl Wants" has relatable lyrics and a catchy melody that is stuck in many people's heads. If they keep showing their multiple sides, they will advance even further in the future.

The group that lost the fire of "Mister", Kara:B+

Kara was the greatest girl group with their songs in the beginning of the year, "Pretty Girl" and "Honey." For "Pretty Girl," the concept wasn't different whatsoever from before so the popularity was surprising. However, the song had a more listenable melody and easy-to-follow choreography, so through promotions the song became a hit. The dance number "Honey" also received love with its catchy melody.

However, their promotions afterward were disappointing. "Wanna" didn't necessarily fail, but compared to "Mister" and the "butt dance" it wasn't enough. Then when Kara started their "Mister" promotions, the fire had already died out. Both songs didn't get that much hype and the promotions for the album "Revolution" were over. They should have stopped "Wanna" promotions when the reception wasn't that great and switched their title track to "Mister." Even though the "Mister" concept was different, it was popular. Kara would have succeeded had they switched their "cute girl" image to the mature woman image.

Always in the center of attention, Brown Eyed Girls:A

Brown Eyed Girls (from here, BEG) started changing with "L.O.V.E." The song had a smooth melody with sweet electronic beats. "L.O.V.E" was danceable with soft lyrics, perfectly capturing Koreans' emotions. "L.O.V.E" didn't get that much hype but slowly, people were starting to notice BEG. Afterward, they released the hits "How Come" and "My Style" with similar concepts and claimed their spot as one of the best girl groups.
Then, the mysterious song "Abracadabra" came along and became a sensation. The "saucy hip dance" was great, but the shocking yet smooth concept as well as the autotune song was very BEG. Ga-in's smooth voice, the skilled Miryo and the four members as a whole showed off their singing skills as well.

Their newest song "Sign" has them performing again. Even with the poor economy, BEG is overtaking the music charts. Even if they never reach the top, BEG's songs always circulate the charts for a long time. This is because "Sign" is a smooth pop song that is nice to listen to.

Hesitation after "Gee", SNSD: A

Although 2NE1 wins the "how well one girl group did" category, SNSD wins the "which song received most love" category. "Gee" was a huge hit this year. The song, written by E-Tribe, is hard to forget after one listen. SNSD always won with their "happy, endorphin-giving vibe." They had the concept of making people feel happy just by looking at them, which was doubly proved with their song "Gee." The song itself was good, but it was even better because the endorphin-giving SNSD sang it.

But after, "Tell Me Your Wish" succeeded but it was agreed that the song wasn't as good. The quickly changed concept was hard to understand, and the plagiarism rumors and the verbal abuse that entailed ruined SNSD's "endorphin image." Of course, "Tell Me Your Wish" didn't fail by any means. But that was because of SNSD's name value, not because of the song's power. If they keep relying on their name value, the road downhill won't be far. They need a new mega-hit song like "Gee" that agrees with their image.

The best cliche breaker, 2NE1: A+

It's not an overstatement to say this year is 2NE1's year. Out of all the girl groups, 2NE1 is especially remarkable. They got attention even before their debut, and for a girl group that only debuted this year they already have had 3 hits: "Lollipop", "Fire" and "I Don't Care", which has solidified them as a huge success. If you count Park Bom's "You And I" you could even say they had 4 straight hits.

2NE1 started off by breaking off from the typical girl group image. "Fire" was a girl hip-hop song that would be hard to hear from any girl group. The beats were complex and the song could've potentially been buried without any attention.

But 2NE1 took the chance, and "Fire" was met with huge success and had a huge effect on 2NE1's image. Like 2NE1, "Fire" was new, fresh and fierce, so the song had more meaning than just its success. Then, 2NE1 performed the relatively safe melodic song "I Don't Care" which also received much love. The lyrics weren't the typical bubblegum lyrics, but were words that appealed to many girls as the song imagined a girl's thoughts as they talked to their girl friends. Afterward, Sandara Park's "Kiss" also got some popularity as well as "You And I", which became hugely popular without any performances.

[Trans]Artist Stadium Interview!

This has been translated from jap to korean, then i did it from korean to english so some bits may sound a bit weird.

Welcome back, BIGBANG! It’s been 3 months since you last came to Artist Stadium.
All of you are back together again, now that D-Lite’s better! Yay!
They used to live together, but now they’re living separately in two groups: GD-VI and TOP-YB-DS.

Let’s ask the busy Big Bang about how they spend their time ‘recharging’…
DS: I used to use a room with VI but now I have my own room. I just relax in my room.
YB: I sleep on the couch in the studio since I can’t get to sleep at home.
[…the reason YB can’t sleep at night! ↓↓↓ *laughs*]
TOP: I play music through my speakers instead of using headphones, and sing or do stuff for my album.
VI: I watch movies or listen to music in my room.
GD: I lie in my bed with my dog Gaho.
..These were the type of answers they gave, giving us an idea of their lifestyle nowadays.

GD keeps fiddling with VI’s sideburns *laughs*
VI, who just lets him, says: “I’m pretty kind, aye.” *laughs*
GD says (about VI) “We live together, but its like living alone.”
He keeps lovingly touching and stroking VI’s sideburns, saying he’s like a doll. *laughs*
They seem really close ~ ♪♪♪

TOP, who is recently being told by the other members of Big Bang that he’s grown from a baby to a 7 year old, did a little dance ♪♪♪
He wanted to show a powerful dance, but~ *laughs*
Please listen to the Club Mix of their new single ‘Let Me Hear Your Voice’! Your body will start moving on its own!
It seems as though it won’t be long before TOP’s dog Charlie is revealed to the world!

[underneath, the blogger has written:
I got this from BB Flow.
And TOP’s dog has already been revealed!

[DKP SPECIAL] U Kiss Man Man Hani Performance on Inkigayo reminded me of DBSK!

After watching U Kiss' Performance on Inkigayo yesterday,it reminded me about DBSK's purple line performance.

The reason is simple,it is because of the light effect during the performances.DBSK performed Purple Line on Music Bank last year applying the laser light effect while U Kiss made good use of it with Man Man Hani.

Hopefully U Kiss will be as successful as DBSK in the near future, please enjoy their laser light performances !

[DKP SPECIAL] Transformation of f(x):From Lachata to Chu!

Being a fan of f(x),i noticed some changes in f(x)'s members from their first single Lachata to their latest song Chu.

Debuted with Lachata a few months ago,f(x) showed us some cool sides despite their young age.As you can see in the photo above, their image for Lachata is a bit gloomy and you can hardly see them smilling in the photo. However, everything changed after the release of Chu,all members are showing us their cute side,i think this is the image that suits them more.

I have made some analysis on the transformations of each member, let us start with Victoria, the leader.

Victoria
f(x)'s chinese leader Victoria is well known for her flexible body and incredible acrobatic skills. To be honest, not much changes can be seen in Victoria as you can see in the photo above, her image is more or less the same.In terms of hairstyle, the hairstyle she is having now is the same as the Lachata' hairstyle, but one thing i noticed is she is now wearing the "Kara Mister's pant" while performing Chu,her flexibility is perfectly shown in that outfit especially when she does the flipping.

Sulli
Sulli is growing on me these days.I have to admit that she is a cute little talented girl, her image in Chu's MV suits her very much. She looks really pretty with the two pony tails,do you agree with me?

Amber
Already received much attention when f(x) first debuted thanks to her boyish image. She really has the boyish charm to make fangirls scream. In f(x) Chu's MV,her face can be seen clearly compared with Lachata's MV,she is quite good looking and i hope that she will surprise us with long hairstyle in the near future!

Luna
Luna,my favourite f(x)'s member, always looks so good in MV but disappoints me when she is performing LIVE.It can't be denied that she looks really pretty in both Lachata and Chu's MV but what happened to her when she is performing LIVE.You can see that she will the one to wear weird accessories during LIVE performance and her pants during Lachata simply does not suit her,i wonder when can i see a perfect Luna performing LIVE?

Krystal
Krystal,a.k.a SNSD Jessica's sister, she is the prettiest among 5 girls, just my opinion. But what happened to her in Chu MV?Her hairstyle is really not something "viewable",don't you agree with me,just compare the snapshots above, she looks absolutely georgeous in Lachata's MV but her beauty is ruined by her weird hairstyle in Chu.

As a conclusion,i like Sulli's changes in the new single, she looks more energetic and cute with the new image given!

Whose changes do you like the most?
