South Korea’s Super Junior – the largest boyband in the world – appeared to the Malaysian press briefly for a "chat session" at 4pm on March 20.

In Malaysia: Finally, Super Junior comes to Malaysia for a concert

The 10 members who were present (yes, 3 boys did not come to Malaysia for the show for various reasons) greeted the press at the VIP Lounge, Putra Indoor Stadium at Bukit Jalil.

Emceed by Liew Li Li, 8TV’s Mandarin News presenter, the session was conducted at lightning speed. The interpreter was OK, but a little too fast at times.

The press were not invited to ask questions as MC Liew was already given a set of questions by the organizers, Marctensia.

The boys trooped into the VIP Lounge at about 4:35pm, took a bunch of publicity shots, “talked” to the press for about 7 minutes, then took some more pictures with the organizers and sponsors. They were then quickly ushered out.

How do you feel about your first concert in Malaysia?

Eeteuk: This is our third visit to Malaysia. Our first visit was when we filmed the Dancing Out music video, we came here for the second time for the MTV Asia Awards (2008) and this is the third time – here for the Super Junior Super Show 2.

This time, we see many more supporters in Malaysia and we are very excited for that. It’s just a few hours away before the show. It will be a really fun concert today so everyone should enjoy it.

What can fans expect from the Super Show 2?

Eeteuk: It will feel like a party and Super Junior will even dress up as girls. I highly recommend the show and do enjoy it as it is going to be a lot of fun. 


This is not your first time in Malaysia. What impresses you most about our country?

Eunhyuk: We filmed the Dancing Out MV in Malaysia, although it was very hot, the people are very sincere and it is a beautiful country. 


Eeteuk: And at the hotel we are staying at the moment (Grand Millennium, Kuala Lumpur), there is a picture of us taken during our first visit to Malaysia. That’s awesome. The photograph also shows the majestic Twin Towers of Malaysia. Your country has beautiful palaces too. I really wish I can come back to Malaysia and I am really happy to be here today.

Do you have any message for the fans?

Eeteuk: I heard that for the first time in Malaysia, fans camped overnight at the concert venue. It (the concert) will be great as we can get closer to the fans…sharing the same air and just having a good time together.


And it’s really good that the tickets have already sold out. How do you feel about that?

Eeteuk: We are very honoured and we have waited a long time to be here. We now have the opportunity to be close to the fans. This is the first time, of all our visits to Malaysia, where we can really connect with our fans.

[News] Fans from 8 countries made Super Junior cry

SJ, who were wearing “animal head” headgears had an “animal party” in the last part, interacted around with fans using water guns and bubble makers, before emotionally saying “I love you” during the curtain call, even saying that they’ll come to Malaysia again!

Screams… screams… screams… more screams… still screaming!!!

SJ did not have to do anything much, because even if it were only 0.01 seconds, the sight of a flashing photo can cause the fans to scream, nearly bringing the roof of the venue down!

Popular South Korean group Super Junior (SJ), whom held their first concert in Malaysia, has amazing powers of attraction. Loyal fans from Malaysia, China, Japan, Korea, Taiwan, Indonesia, Thailand, and Singapore were like a coalition made up of 8 countries, congregated at one place and went crazy for SJ. Some (of the fans) even resorted to camping overnight outside the concert venue in order to obtain good places!

And the screams which have never stopped, also managed to move leader Leeteuk to tears, in which during the song “Shining Star”, that bright smile was promptly replaced by two streaks of tears. Even Donghae also looked as if he couldn’t hold it in, as there wear tears in his eyes!

Acoustics caused the water bottle to fall

SJ likes to pop in and out of everywhere, hence the fans' eyes didn't have the time to take a rest, because they wanted to find out where exactly would the boys emerge from.

The track list of the Malaysian concert, which neared 3 hours, was no different from the previous stop’s, but when it comes to the stage layout, Malaysia’s 田-shaped stage comes off as more ornate and breathtaking as compared to the Shanghai stop’s T-shaped stage. Besides that, the lighting and effects were superb; not to mention that the acoustics were so powerful to the extent that the empty water bottles, which were placed at the side of the reporter’s table, fell to the floor due to the tremor!

Speaking about SJ’s charm, there is no question that apart from their ability to sing, dance, act cute, and their handsome looks, they are also funny! The 10 SJ boys adapted the “casual” approach for their performance this time. When they weren’t grouped together to dance, they can do whatever they feel like doing, for example Ryeowook suddenly playfully kissed Leeteuk on his cheeks, and while Donghae was doing flips right after performing, Eunhyuk aimed a kick at him and more!

There were a total of 35 songs performed during the concert, and apart from SJ, there were also performances from the subgroups Super Junior-K.R.Y. (Kyuhyun, Ryeowook, Yesung), Super Junior-T (Leeteuk, Heechul, Shindong, Eunhyuk, Sungmin)*, and Super Junior-M (Siwon, Kyuhyun, Ryeowook, Donghae, Henry, Zhou Mi), as well as solo performances, which fully displayed various personalities (on stage). What’s worth mentioning was that Henry also had the opportunity to deliver a solo performance, and the entire audience kept on chanting his name; his popularity can be considered as through the roof as well!

This concert was organized by Redstar Presents, and managed by Marctensia.

Acting cute with a playful spirit

On the opposite side of SJ’s handsome and mature image, is actually the innocence of acting cute. Sometimes they would wear hats that resembled the heads of “fish, horse, rabbit, turtle, cow, and pig”, and even during the time when Kyuhyun sang the nursery rhyme “Puff the Magic Dragon”, the other members would playfully dress up as a baby, dragon, fly, mosquito, cockroach and more, showing off their exceptionally strong desire for performing.

Speaking about the most playful image, it would be none other than the part where they came out for their encore performance. Actually at this point of time, the stage was already covered with either props or presents. The most interesting part was that the boys started playing with water guns, aiming them at the fans; some were even in charge of blowing bubbles. How can the fans not stay loyal, when they’re so cute?

[News] Will Super Junior’s Heechul and Siwon do a repeat of their kiss in Manila?

Fan cam videos of Siwon kissing Heechul on the lips during the show have surfaced on YouTube. Another video showed Heechul kissing Super Junior-M member Henry during the “Sonata of Temptation” performance.

Heechul is the kissing bandit in the group and has kissed other Super Junior members in concerts in the past.

Fans are amused by this so-called public display of affection.

“That was an awesome kiss. Heechul was always like this to the other members,” one fan commented on the Filipino fan forum http://forums.sjuph.org of the Super Junior United Philippines.

Fans are also hoping that Super Junior member Kangin would perform in the Manila concert. Kangin is on hiatus after his involvement in two incidents last year.

The next leg of the Super Show 2 will be Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia on March 20. Filipino fans will finally get the chance to see the boy band on April 10 when they hold their concert at the Araneta Coliseum.

The Philippines will be Super Junior’s last stop for the Super Show 2 concert tour. Super Junior has been touring Asia for the last nine months—having kicked off in July last year in Seoul when they wrapped up promotions for the “Sorry Sorry” album.

From South Korea, the show went to Hong Kong, Shanghai, Bangkok, Nanjing, Beijing and Taipei.
Filipino fans are eagerly awaiting the boy band’s arrival and have been preparing surprises to welcome the group.

Even with their busy schedule, they took out some time purposely for the new show. Concerning the Shanghai's stop, the equipment used, including the stage's brackets, the lights, the audio system and 12 other containers of the materials have arrived there by air from South Korea. The reporter has learned that because the stage's design is quite complicated, therefore the project team have started building it up a week before and presently is still being assembled.

Furthermore, it is said that for the previous Shanghai's concert, some people have been tricked and paid 2,000 yuan for a ticket. Super Junior's members have stated that they are hoping that the fans could buy their tickets through the ticket booth in charge. They also said that at this time's concert, there will be a large near 300 square meters LED screen as a background on the stage. Thus, regardless of where the fans are gonna be sitting, they will be able to see every movement of the boys. At the same time, the organizers have revealed that limited tickets are still on sale hence reminding the fans to buy their tickets through normal channels* to prevent buying false tickets.

[News] SJ Fans Angry, Tickets Deemed as Void If the Buyer Did Not Come in Person

Super Junior’s current trip to Taiwan has indeed created huge sensation. A ticket at the Rock Pitt can be selling at TW$4000 (max), but there are fans that complained to TVBS that the organizer had set their own ticketing-sales rule. This leads to many disputes. First, the fans had to give the organiser their identity card number when buying the tickets, the organiser even declared that on the day of the concert itself, unless the buyer comes in person, the ticket will be deemed to be void. Furthermore, tickets cannot be refunded 15 days before the concert. The Consumer Protection Officer states that it is against the law for them to do so and the maximum fine is up to TW$1,500,000. However, the organiser said that not only there are many scalpers, fraud syndicate are also eyeing at the market. This is a necessary measure to protect the fans’ rights and interests and they had no choice.

Fans holding on the the tickets, one after another, they had to sit down at the side pavement outside Taiwan Dome/Arena obediently. There are even plastic ropes tied at the region to isolate them, attracting attention. These fans are in fact the ones that spent the most, with a ticket at TW$4000 each. Sitting in a row according to their queue number, a fan that frequent concert often complained that initially when purchasing tickets in the Rock Pitt online, identity card number has to be entered, unless the buyer comes in person, he/she will be denied entry.

Organizer states clearly in the web that they will check the identity of the fans and the tickets of fans who are not in compliance will be invalid. Fans with last-minute engagement who want to re-sell off their tickets were warned online to be careful not to get their tickets nullify. He (the staff) says the online one and mine were very similiar” Reporter “Your running number and the one on the scalp-ticket are similiar” SJ Fans “Yes”

Being seen as scalper, and according to the Consumer Protection rule, there will not be any deduction if the ticket is refund 7 days before the concert, which means that the full amount of $4000 can be get back if the ticket is being refund 14 days before. But the organiser had their own set of rule stating that there will be no refund 15 days before, there will be a 30% procedure fee deduction 15-30 days before and even deduction if the ticket is refunded a month before. The Consumer Protection Board says that this is against the law and the maximum fine the organiser will be liable for is TW$1,500,000.

The Consumer Protection Officer from Administration Department Qiu Hui-Mei says “Unless he has a way to prove it (scalping), he definately has the rights to chase me out. The issue is that whether or not this is scalped-ticket, I did spend money buying the ticket, right? Then how can he say that? Chasing me out just because my name and the name on the ticket is different.”

There are also fans who complained against the Consumer Protection Officer. The official documents are already posted on the website. The North City Government (?) told the consumers that they are able to file a suit in the court, there is fear that it may involved legal issues now. Now it depends on whether the fans and consumer protection officer want to pursue the matter further. Super Dome (?) explained that there are not only Scalpers involved this time round, there are also Fraud Syndicate. Hence they have no choice but to tighten up the measures. However, this has led to fans who splurge on the tickets feeling wronged and hurt during the process.

[News] Super Junior is Super Koreans

Korean pop band Super Junior has made a massive impact in the country with tickets to its upcoming concert selling like hot cakes, writes Wendy Wong.

KOREAN pop boy band sensation, Super Junior is generating a lot of interest with its upcoming concert on March 20 with more than 70 per cent of tickets snapped up since they were released recently.

“Most of their fans know the songs by heart. The music reaches out to fans from different backgrounds,” said Redstar Present’s executive director Norhasmah Naroden who represents the event promoter. The show is managed by Marctensia and Warner Music is the record label.

Super Junior will be in town as part of its Asia Tour Super Show 2. Comprising 13 members, the group is set to entertain fans at the Putra Indoor Stadium, Bukit Jalil in Kuala Lumpur at 7pm. Regarded as the biggest boy band in the region, the group was formed in 2005 in Seoul and is often referred to as SJ or SuJu.

Super Junior has released 19 albums that include soundtracks and its music can be categorised as mainstream Korean-pop.

The group comprises members who showcase individual talents that range from vocal powerhouse to B-boy champions, actors, instrumentalists, TV show hosts and many more.

Super Junior has received major awards from international music channels like the MTV Asia Awards and China’s CCTV 2008 Entertainment Music Awards for Mainland’s Best Album and Mainland’s Most Popular Group as well as in Korea. Last year Super Junior conquered the charts with its album and single Sorry, Sorry. Due to different tier of demands, Super Junior is also further divided into sub-groups, namely Super Junior-KRY, Super Junior-M and Super Junior-Happy that caters to different languages and markets. Norhasmah said that tickets buyers from Brunei, Indonesia and Singapore also inquired about ticket availability for the show.

Norhasmah said that this was the group’s third visit to Malaysia. Super Junior recorded its music video for Dancing Out in KLCC in 2006 and attended the MTV Asia Awards in 2008.

Recently, when Super Junior performs Shining Star in the concert, most of the members especially Eeteuk and Eunhyuk will cry for sure. But for the 20th February's Super Show 2 in Taiwan, Donghae shed tears and made fans keep wondering what's the reason he cried.


Here's one of the fan that attended the concert and she found out the reason:


Did anyone realize, Donghae was laughing happily at first!! but when he turned towards the left, he was a little shocked, and stunned there for awhile. Donghae turned and and saw this.

(afraid that his tears would flow out).Everyone either had tears in their eyes or cried really hard.
Both on stage and off, were all in tears.

I attended both days of the concert
and felt really fortunate!!!
We cried even harder on the second than the first day!!!

This time we Taiwan E.L.Fs did it!!!!!!
Its the first time, and also our most complete and wonderful moment!
Every house ( different forums and fan clubs) did well too!! The fan chants too!!!
Hope we will maintain like this till 4jib,
and will be awaiting for Super Show III to create memories that belongs to SJ and us once again!!!!!!

SUPER JUNIOR who held their concert in Tapei Arena for two days consecutively, had fans screaming passionately, which members told the management before the 2nd show started, “Today, we shall have a more special performance!’, in the end, not only did they gave their all, most of the members even promised at the end of the show, “We’ll be back!”

SJ felt that this was one of the most enthusiastic stop, although this is the 1st time they held a concert in Taipei, they gave it their all – letting their fans know through their actions and expressions, got the fans who were watching elated. The members gave their best shot when speaking in mandarin, just to be able to get close to Taiwanese fans. During performance, Eeteuk, Donghae and Eunhyuk even cried as they were touched by the real time atmosphere, while Kyuhyun and ZhouMi went teary during the encore, finally, at the end, members were playing crazily on stage, shouting they would be back.

Specially for the additional concert, they even sang their junior ’s song, even during the 2nd day, the performance was just as hilarious, Shindong even dropped his wig while dancing(rolling) on stage. While Heechul, Ryeowook, Donghae and members cross-dress, acting cute and bitchy, some members attempted to pulled off Eunhyuk’s wig, which had the audience rolling with laughter. Even Siwon who showed his abs specially for the fans, specially introduced Vaness Wu, whom he admired as his “Good Brother”. (哥哥=elder brother)

During their 4 days of stay in Taiwan, SJ stayed indoors completely, else either at Taipei Arena or at the hotel, requesting for customer service, having steak, fried rice, spaghetti, salad, mostly food. They went for Korean BBQ to celebrate after their concert ended. It is said that SJ would leave on the 22nd, splitting up in two groups, the 1st to leave at 8.10 in the morning on CI160 , and the other at 2.35pm on OZ712.

[News] SJ changes 8 costumes for concert, delights fans with their dance

Super Junior (SJ) has finally arrived in Taiwan, Taipei’s Super Dome. Eeteuk, Yesung, Eunhyuk, Heechul, Donghae, Sungmin, ShinDong, Kyuhyun. Siwon and SJ-M member Henry and Zhoumi, these 12 members sang a total of 33 songs, and also covered Girls’ Generation’s Gee, F(x)’s Chu ~, bringing the 11000 people crowd to its highest point.

SJ prepared 2 special songs for their Taiwan stop, including Heechul’s idea, which was to dance f(x)’s Chu ~, as well as Henry’s solo, Sick of Love. Kyuhyun also brushed up on his Chinese, and covered Jam Hsiao’s Forgive me, showing off their gratefulness to their fans. Leader Eeteuk expressed that, if all of the members were to dress up, they would definitely look very pretty. However, since Siwon was one of the muscular ones in the group, he looked very sexy dressed up as a lady. Donghae then went to touch Siwon’s muscles, causing the group to laugh.

The stage was magnificent; accompanying it was 350 LED, a dance platform and 150 fireworks, causing fans to screaming continuously, SJ-M’s Zhoumi and Henry also joined in the concert, and Taiwan-born Henry, together with Eunhyuk and Ryeowook also participated in Heechul’s Sonata of Temptation solo. At the second half of the concert, when it was the Sorry Sorry performance, the whole hall was filled with screams, and the fans were too singing along. SJ’s charisma is really overpowering, with 1,900,000 official merchandises already sold. The members stated that for their next Asia Tour, they would want to visit Taiwan again, and also they will be releasing their 4th album this year.

Although their schedules are really packed, SJ still went back home for the Lunar New Year. In Korea, it is a tradition that only those who are not married are entitled for a red packet. The members said: “Getting married at a later age is good, so that we can continue to collect red packets.” Last year, when they were awarded the Daesung, Eeteuk cried on stage, he said. “I am someone who cries easily, and when SJ won this award, plus when I thought about the members who weren’t present, emotions overwhelmed me, and thus I cried. Thank you fans for your love, we are still not perfect, so, we will work hard.”
