High-street brand H&M (Hennes & Mauritz Ltd.), finally stepped foot in South Korea, Seoul, and open its first flagship store in Myeong-dong's Noon Square where many similar popular high-street stores, such as SPAO, Zara, Forever 21, Mango and Uniqlo, are already established in the same area. H&M operates more than 2,000 stores in some 35 countries, with their more than 100 designers providing fresh designs everyday.
The Myeong-dong H&M store is now selling its Sonia Rykiel pour H&M collection, where the acclaimed French knitwear designer presented her usual colorful and striped knitwear lines, alongside its original spring collections.
Korean Celebrities like Cha Ye Ryun (차예련), Min Hyo Rin (정은란), Bada, Heo Yi Jae (허이재), Hong Su Ah (홍수아), Ji Jin Hee (지진희), Park Han Byul (박한별), Jung Gyu Woon (정겨운), Kim Na Young (김나영), Jung Hye Young (정혜영) and Jinusean as well as model Han Hye Jin attended the opening of the flagship store. "We have high expectations for the Korean market which has a very high demand and sophisticated taste regarding fashion. We will actively appeal to the Korean consumers with our management ideology of providing fashion and quality for the best price," said Hans Andersson, the head of H&M Korea office.
The brand is hugely popular among young consumers around the world for their frequent collaborations with high-end designers and celebrities. The list includes Comme Des Garcons, Roberto Cavalli, Stella McCartney, Kate Moss and Madonna, to name a few.
