Popular boy band 2PM member Nichkhun has been tapped to star in a comedy film alongside top Korean actress Lee Mi-sook, according to his agency JYP Entertainment.
JYP announced in a statement on Tuesday that Nichkhun will make his acting debut in the film tentatively titled “Shining Diploma” in English, which is set to go into shoot starting mid-January next year.
“We believe he was acknowledged for how fast he has developed as an entertainer over the years as well as his potential for future growth,” an official at JYP was quoted as saying.
Nichkhun will play the second-eldest of Lee’s sons who is rebellious yet warm-hearted. "Diploma" will be the incidents surrounding a mother who decides to reenter high school ahead of her son’s marriage.
The Thai-American heartthrob, 21, is the only non-Korean member of 2PM. He is known to be the most popular of the idol group in Thailand, shooting four television commercials in the country while still a trainee at JYP.
2PM has been one of the hottest bands in the country since their debut in 2008.
