The last episode of KBS TV series "Iris" on Thursday delivered its highest ratings of the season, according to estimates by TNS Media Korea.
The Wednesday and Thursday night blockbuster spy drama recorded a viewership rating of 39.9 percent, the best ratings reported by the poll since the show's premiere in mid-October.
Statistics by research firm AGB Nielsen Media also indicated that "Iris" wrapped up with its largest audience to date -- reaching ratings of 35.5 percent which is a gain of nearly four percent from its previous episode.
The drama had fared well since the start of its showing, seeing its first episode record ratings in the 20 percent range.
It had drawn much attention since the pre-production stages with its huge scale, international location shoots and a stellar cast, which includes actors Lee Byung-hun, Kim Tae-hee, Kim So-yeon and K-pop idol T.O.P. of idol group Big Bang.
Producer Taewon Entertainment has announced they will shoot a second season of the drama starting May next year.
