After School's comeback single "Because of You" was "leaked" on MBC's Chin Chin Radio which is hosted by SNSD's Taeyeon. The real question is, was it really MBC's fault?
Due to the airplay of "Because of You" on Chin Chin, the song was recorded and shared on various p2p sites which thus allowed the songs to be uploaded onto sites like youtube.
Pledis Entertainment (the record label of After School) released the following statement:
"It is true that the songs can be aired once it is approved, however, songs are usually aired after the official release date of the album. Considering the varying amounts of time each broadcasting company takes to review, we normally send the songs in early. Wouldn't the pattern be broken if the broadcasting companies aired them beforehand?"
The following explanation to clear things up for international fans is thanks to silis7noy2 @ soompi.com:
"This is an attempt by Pledis (After School's record label) to stir up some publicity, and a bad one at that. These songs are submitted to radio stations and once they pass the broadcast review, they can be aired, whether the song is released to public or not. It is up to After School's company to ask the radio station to hold the airing until the song is released."
Pledis is receiving major backlash from the Korean public for this publicity stunt. Also on a side note, Taeyeon has no control over what is played. It is entirely up to the PD as far as what is played on air.
This sort of publicity stunt has happened before to Chin Chin. If you may recall, MC Mong had his song leaked but later went on to say that "Everything is okay. It was just a misunderstanding." and appeared on Chin Chin days later.
In another instance, the same thing happened to T-Ara when their label, Core Contents Media released official complaints to numerous newspaper outlets for believing "Wanna Play" was leaked, which was later proven to be a false accusation as the song was reviewed prior to broadcast. Days later, after public scrutiny for the publicity stunt, the company released an apology to MBC Chin Chin.
Core Media Contents official apology statement on the 29th to MBC Chin Chin:
"We mistakenly thought Wanna Play was played before broadcast review but it was played after the review so there is no problem. We apologize for the misunderstanding."
Although Core Media Contents has apologized, T-Ara has yet to appear on Chin Chin and their songs have not been broadcasted on the radio show. The power of having radio stations backing you up is quite significant. Having your song played means having new listeners which can possibly garner in more sales.

The true victims in all of this are the artists. Without a doubt, "Because of You" is a great song and it shows just how talented After School is. Unfortunately for After School, their song was leaked and is being illegally downloaded. How will it effect their record sales? No one knows for now, but one thing is for certain, MBC is not to blame.
