[News] Queen Seon- Duk Producers Sued For Plagiarism

Another plagiarism controvery in Korea’s entertainment business: On January 18th, producers of drama Queen Sun-Duk have been sued for plagiarizing musical ”Queen of rose of Sharon, Sun-Duk”. The producers of the musical claimed that producers of the drama have plagiarized their musical which they have prepared for 7 years and copied their design and trademark. Also, they claimed that drama had plagiarized timing of events, spacial enviornment, theme, and relationship between characters.

They claim that final version of their musical script was written in 2005 and somebody had stole the script. Currently, they are in preparations for the final production of the musical.

On the other hand, MBC responded to this situation stating, “The script for their musical is no where to be found and the musical never have been staged. We did not plagiarize their musical. This is a big emotional blow to our writers and producers of the drama. If they continue to claim their arguments then we will counter sue them with charges on defamation of character.”
