Only one day left for year 2009. Year of Cow, KiChookNyun (the numbering of years in olden days), is about to finish and waiting for the Year of Tiger, KyungInNyun, the year of white tiger to come.

The most promising star is SS501’s Kim HyunJoong.

[News]Thief Of Choi Jin-Shil's Urn Is Now Sentence For A Year And 6 Months In Jail

A man who stole late actress Choi Jin-sil’s urn from her tomb in August received a one year and six month jail term on Tuesday.

“The crime was planned elaborately and the method used was cruel,” the Suwon District Court said of its reason for handing the ruling to the 41-year-old man identified only by his last name Park.

The court added that the thief destroyed the urn, left an eternal wound on the family of the deceased and yet did not repent on his wrongdoing. Choi’s family had also requested Park be punished severely for his crime.

The court dismissed Park’s claim that he committed the crime after becoming possessed with Choi’s spirit which led him to steal the ashes of the late actress. Police had caught Park on August 26, three weeks after he had broken the tomb to take away the urn.

The retrieved ashes were placed in a new tomb in a memorial park for the late actress built in the Gapsan Park Cemetery in Yangpyeong of Gyeonggi Province in late September.

Choi had become a household name in South Korea, enjoying a successful 20 year career since her debut in 1988, until she was found dead in her home in October last year after allegedly committing suicide. She was 40 at the time.

[News]Super Junior M’s Henry stood up for HanKyung, “People who curse others are lower than animals!”

Henry of SJ-M showed up at Dongguan as a performer for the first showing of “Ji Qing Dong Man Jia Nian Hua”. Because of the recent contract controversy between SJ-M’s Hangeng and SM Entertainment, Henry inevitably faced questions regarding this topic from reporter s. When discussing about how there were SJ-M members calling Hangeng “lower than animals”, Henry rebuked: “People who curse others are lower than animals!”

On the night of December 30, Henry will form a group with Zhang Li Yin and perform.

With regards to the earlier contract termination dispute between leader Hangeng and SM Entertainment, Henry, with the same Chinese nationality, evidently stood on Hangeng’s side. He disclosed to journalists that in order to avoid the company and media, Hangeng turned off his cellphone and pretended to be missing. “Hangeng needs to calmly be by himself, but he’s currently doing well. The fans who worry about him can rest assured.” When reporters mentioned that earlier, a Korean SJ-M member condemned Hangeng to be “lower than animals”, Henry changed face and burst out: “People who curse others are lower than animals!”. This caused the reporters to further suspect that there is internal disagreement and strife among the SJ-M members.

When asked about whether or not SJ-M will be attending the New Years Event that’s being held in Shenzhen on the night of 31st, Henry vacantly replied: “To be honest, it all depends on the result of the dispute. It’s useless to speak of other guesses.”

[News]Yoo JaeSeok and Lee Hyori Was Awarded The Daesang at SBS Entertainment Awards

Gagman Yoo JaeSeok and Lee Hyori have been both awarded the daesang at SBS Entertainment Awards, which took place on 30th December at the SBS GongGae Hall.

This is Yoo JaeSeok’s 2nd year winning the daesang amidst strong competition from other entertainers like Kang HoDong and Lee GyungGyu. He said, “Really grateful. I don’t know that I will get the award. This is so sudden I don’t know what to think.”

Yoo JaeSeok has been active as the MC for SBS Family Outing from June 2008. And the viewership for the show has even peaked at 30% once. This is his 2nd daesang for this year after the one received at 2009 MBC Broadcast Awards on 29th December, and making his 6th daesang award received.

Meanwhile, Lee Hyori has been appearing as perm member for Family Outing since June 2008. Even though she has been on various variety shows like ‘Happy Together’ and ‘Roundtable Plus’, her appearance on ‘Family Outing’ has further emphasized her as a variety star.

[News] ‘Entertainment Weekly’ Officially Apologizes For The DBSK/THSK/TVXQ Subtitle Error

KBS 2TV’s ‘Entertainment Weekly’, which was under fire for an error in the show’s subtitles, released an official apology through the show’s homepage.

The production crew of ‘Entertainment Weekly’ put said apology under the title ‘This is the production crew of Entertainment Weekly’ in the Viewers’ Thread on the show’s official homepage on the evening of the 28th.

In this apology, they showed their remorse for their mistake by saying, “There was an error regarding the names of the members of the group TVXQ in the ‘2009 Star Survey’ corner which was aired on the 26th. We will make sure an incident like this will never happen again.”

In this segment of ‘Entertainment Weekly’ that was aired on the 26th, the production crew was under fire for putting out subtitles that read “Xiah Junsu, Choikang Changmin and Meecky Yoochun filed a lawsuit against their agency”. They made the mistake of putting Choikang Changmin’s name instead of YoungWoong Jaejoong when reporting this news.

After the airing of the show, many people, mostly TVXQ fans, demanded an apology from the program.

[News] BEG JeA fans are angry, “Child Of Empire is ZE:A? Change the name”

There has been some disagreement between the same names of Brown Eyed Girls Jea (제아) and upcoming 9-member group ZE:A (제아).

ZE:A is the name of an upcoming 9-member group previously known as Child Of Empire under Star Empire Entertainment. The group has revealed some album jacket photos on 28th December and will be releasing their debut album on 7th January.

But this has met with some strong protest from Brown Eyed Girls JeA’s fans. The reason is that they have the same name (in Korean that is). And it has been known that the fans have been calling up Star Empire to ask about the same-name issue.

This is similar to that of newcomer singers like 2NE1 who were known as 21 before but it was the name of another singer, and also BEAST Lee GiGwang who was known as AJ previously but fans of Paran AJ have caught such an issue about it and he had to change his name.

Much attention is on what Star Empire will do with this same-name issue with the hypersensitive reaction from fans.
